SUMMER BAND INFO General Info: When: August 12th - 14th Q: What is summer band? A: Summer band camp is a time for students to get some individualized help on their specific instrument they've chosen. Students will be able to learn the basics of their instrument, how to put it together, and how to make a sound on it, so when we start school, we can start with our feet on the ground running! For 2nd and 3rd year students, summer band helps us get the rust off of our playing chops and remember how we do band here at BJH. Q: When is summer band? A: Summer band for 2024-2025 school year will be August 12th - 14th. School starts on August 15th. Times will be as follow: Beginning Flute, Clarinet: 9 am - 10 am Beginning Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba: 10 am - 11 am Beginning Percussion: 11 am - 12 am Concert Band Percussion (2nd and 3rd year): 1 pm - 2 pm Concert Band Brass (2nd and 3rd year): 2 pm - 3 pm Concert Band Woodwind (2nd and 3rd year): 3 pm - 4 pm Q: How much does summer band cost? A: Summer band costs $30/student. This covers the cost of having specialists come and help our students on their respective instruments. Q: What does my student need to bring/have with them? A: All students will need their instrument, method book and a pencil each day. The books students will need are detailed on the supplies list each student receives. Brass players need valve oil and slide grease. Woodwind players need at least 4 working reeds. Percussionists should have a snare pad, sticks, a bell kit and bell mallets. Note: Students need to make sure they have their instrument prior to summer band starting. It's not very helpful for a student who shows up without their instrument, or any of their equipment for that matter.
